Freediving courses are available in all parts of the world.
You can only learn so much from videos and web articles. Taking a freediving course is highly reccomended both for beginners and divers who have been in the water their whole life.
Freediving techniques and safety procedures have only recently been developed in the past 50 years or so. The sport is an accessible one where anybody can decide to enter the ocean or pool and start practising it. However it does have the potential to be dangerous. One of the main aims of professional free dive instruction is to address all the relevant safety issues and procedures. I’ve seen experienced spear fishermen who have been diving 20 years enrol on a course and still learn an incredible amount. Most knowledge which has been passed down is outright insane and learning from a qualified instructor can teach you how to practise this wonderful sport without putting yourself at risk.
Freediving isn’t quite as simple as it seems. It’s very easy to pick up bad habits which can limit your depth and time. Learning proper technique now, at the start of your freediving journey, will greatly benefit you in the long run. The best way to do that is will the watchful eye of an instructor. We’re trained to correct any slight problems you may have. you’d be surprised what new divers are capable of after only a couple of sessions in the sea.
Knowledge builds Confidence
During the theory sessions of a freediving course, you’ll learn about the different sensations in your body and why. With a better understanding of why you feel like you do while holding your breath, you’ll feel much more comfortable. As well as learning about the effects of depth and pressure, you’ll pick up some great pub ammo to impress your friends with.
