The Introduction to Freediving course is the first level of AIDA certification, also known as AIDA* one star.
To start this course there are a couple of things you will need to comply with beforehand:
- Have a minimum of 18 years of age (16 years with consent from a parent or guardian)
- Be able to swim 100m without stopping
- No prior experience to freediving is required, don’t worry.
This course is basically a one day beginner’s guide to freediving. I’ll teach you all the basic skills and knowledge, and most importantly, safety procedures so that you can enjoy free diving safely within your own limits.
We’ll go through a theory session in the morning that will cover equipment, equalisation and safety. Afterwards we’ll have a breathing session, how to breathe before and after a dive as well as important relaxation techniques.
And finally we’ll hit the pool or ocean, depending on location, to practise what you’ve learned. In the water you’ll be taught correct finning style and the most efficient ways to start your dives. Also a bit of mermaid practice if there is time..
